From March 19 to May 7th MondoPOP International Gallery goes back to the roots of the new art currents as
Pop Surrealism, Urban Art, Lowbrow with a collective shows that investigates roots of the most popular trends of New Art in the world.

An overview on the fundamental aesthetic elements of subcultures from the 50s until nowadays:
Pin Up, Custom Car, Tattoo, Punk, Rock n 'roll, Skateboard, Surf, Tiki, Sci-fi, Mexico, Japan!

The new generation of this movement joins the most popular artists
to explain a particular imaginary, playful and dark, dreamy and real.

Women and engines, tattoo & dolls, perfect little sculptures, miniatures and colorful Mannerist works.
In MondoPOP style, different interpretations are joined for an overlook of the direction taken by the young contemporary art trend.

Among all the artworks and relics, the very first number of Juxtapoz of 1994.

EL INSTITUTO CERVANTES Y CONTEMPORÁNEA PRESENTAN “GRAFIKA. 30 ARTISTAS DE LA ESPAÑA JOVEN”
 
Comienza en Ammán (Jordania) la gira de esta exposición que incluye a los artistas más destacados del arte contemporáneo actual de nuestro país
 
El Instituto Cervantes y Contemporánea presentan en Ammán (Jordania) “Gráfika. 30 Artistas de la España joven”. La muestra colectiva podrá visitarse en la Galería Nacional de Jordania, del 21 de febrero al 20 de marzo.
 
La Galería Nacional de Jordania acogerá desde el lunes 21 de febrero esta exposición, que está organizada en este país por el Instituto Cervantes de Ammán, la Agencia Estatal de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) y dicha Galería Nacional. La muestra está comisariada por Mario Martín Pareja.
 
“Gráfika. 30 Artistas de la España joven” es una exposición de pintura, objetos y ediciones varias que explora el trabajo de un grupo diverso de artistas visuales nacidos en los años 70 y 80, que provienen de diferentes disciplinas como el graffiti, la pintura, el muralismo o la ilustración, y surgen en la cultura urbana alternativa.

Lo que comenzó como un fenómeno alternativo, contestatario y al margen de la ley, ha alcanzado tal repercusión entre público y especialistas, que ha terminado por ser asimilado en los espacios institucionales e, incluso, por las grandes multinacionales, para las cuales algunos de los artistas colaboran y diseñan productos.
 
El Instituto Cervantes y Contemporánea han reunido para esta ocasión medio centenar de obras sobre papel cuyo fin es la aproximación al arte español del nuevo siglo. "Gráfika" es, pues, una guía imprescindible para conocer de primera mano a los responsables en nuestro país de ese movimiento global denominado "arte urbano".

La exposición se complementa con un apartado documental compuesto por libros, revistas, memorabilia, camisetas y objetos realizados por estos artistas; algunos de ellos diseñados para conocidas marcas. Asimismo, incluye un extenso documental con imágenes inéditas de los artistas en acción.

La intención de esta muestra es trasladar lo que está aconteciendo en los muros de las ciudades españolas a otras partes del mundo, en el contexto de ese movimiento global denominado "arte urbano".
  
"Gráfika", que está teniendo ya una gran repercusión mediática, dejará Ammán para continuar su itinerancia por diferentes sedes del Instituto Cervantes durante todo el año 2011: Beirut (Líbano), El Cairo (Egipto), Burdeos (Francia), y Lisboa (Portugal), entre otras.
 
Los artistas que integran la exposición son: Rorro Berjano, Javier Calleja, Alex Castañeda, Eltono, Fernando Elvira, Eme, Freak La Notte, Nuria Mora, Sergio Mora, Daniel Muñoz (SAN), Nano4814, El Niño de las Pinturas, Okuda San Miguel, Carlos Orta, Ima Picó, Silvia Prada, Pepa Prieto, Almudena Rodríguez, J.J. Rosado, Gonzalo Rueda, Rubén Sánchez, Savage Girl, Seleka, Marta Serna, Sixeart, SpY, Emilio Subirá, Suso33, Antón Unai, Zosen.

Si tuviese que añadir un pecado a “la lista oficial” añadiría como número 8 el pecado de
“LA PRISA”.
El impulso insondable de aceleración contemporáneo, podría ser el nuevo “pecado” que define a nuestro siglo XXI.

La revolución industrial del pasado siglo abrió las puertas del Averno dando salida a los vapores infernales, con sus chimeneas siempre humeantes.

Desde entonces el mundo saca humo, cada vez todo es más rápido y esa velocidad no nos deja saborear el presente. El reloj y el dinero son los nuevos dioses.

Vivimos siempre proyectados hacia el futuro, pensando sólo en lo que tenemos que tachar de la lista de las cosas pendientes de nuestra agenda, pero... Ya dicen que “nadie llega, y hay que ser feliz en la escalera”..

Como a Niki Lauda, se nos ha incendiado la oreja por exceso de velocidad.
El Fary homenajeó en una canción a esos portafotos donde nuestros padres ponían los retratos de familia. Avisaba diciendo: “No corras mucho papá”
Era la voz de alarma de nuestra propia generación.

El color rojo diablo es, en este cuadro, un color divinizado, una alarma divina.
La luz roja nos avisa de que algo no va bien... Nos avisa de que hay que levantar el pie del acelerador para buscar un ritmo más natural.

La alarma está encendida y ahora tenemos que averiguar cómo acallar las voces de esos falsos dioses. Para dejar que se escuche la voz de nuestra propia divinidad.

Mientras tanto, podemos salir a buscar setas pero, claro, tomándonos el tiempo necesario para separar las buenas de las venenosas.

The Idol Hours.

This November 2010 London Miles gallery presents a themed group exhibition featuring a bold selection from the International Contemporary art movement.

Where contemporary artists hark back to the masters of past movements paying homage to what was not only inspirational to forming how they paint today, but to what has formed the whole epoch of creative output as we now know it. For this ambitious project London Miles Gallery has hand picked a wide cross section of artists, from emerging British artists to newly established international artists. All with the same goal; to pay respect to their elders.

For nearly the past century the art world has been dominated by concept. The concept behind art and what it is that makes art. Pushing the boundaries of theory and the plane of creativity. From the ready-mades of Duchamp to the consumerist nature of Hirst and the YBA’s, the aftermath and social turbulence of the First World War seemed to change the nature of art and the way it was to think forever.
With a new era comes a new generation of artists. A new generation, to progress and push the boundaries of what has come before. Each artist evoking a sentiment which has spawned from a product that has been inspirational to them, and thus helping them reach the technical magnitude and diversity never before seen in the art world. In a world dominated by controversy and rebellion, we propose a rebellion against the rebellion. Therefore by way of gratitude each artist has chosen a work that has moulded them into the artist that they are today. Be it from the pointillist techniques of Seurat in his ‘Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte’, to the groundbreaking take on chiaroscuro of Caravaggio, or the beautiful composition and design ethic of Mucha. Every artist, each with a distinct style of their own will take on the challenge of producing their own take on a work that has made them the artist they are today.
